Privacy Policy

The short version

Tend is built to be a calm, private space. We designed it so that we simply cannot see your data — there's nothing to collect, nothing to sell, and no one to share it with.

• There's no account and no Tend server.
• We don't collect, sell, or share your personal data.
• There are no third-party analytics or tracking tools.
• Notifications are local-only and never leave your device.

❧What we collect

Nothing. Tend doesn't collect any personal data about you.

The things you write in Tend — your daily intentions, your notes, and the garden that grows from your consistency — are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. They stay on your iPhone or iPad. They aren't uploaded to us, because we don't run a server and have no way to receive them.

Since there's no account, we never ask for your name, email, phone number, or a login. You just open the app and start tending.

❧No tracking, no analytics, no ads

Tend contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We don't profile you, follow you across apps or websites, or build any kind of advertising identity. There are no trackers of any kind — full stop.

❧iCloud Sync & Backup (Tend Plus)

With Tend Plus, you can optionally turn on iCloud Sync & Backup. When it's on, your Tend data is stored in your own private iCloud account, managed by Apple and tied to your personal Apple ID.

This keeps your intentions and garden in sync across your devices and gives you a backup. That data lives in Apple's private iCloud database for your account — not on any server we control, and the developer of Tend has no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

iCloud Sync & Backup is entirely optional. Leave it off, and your data simply stays on your device.

❧AI Refine (Tend Plus)

Tend Plus includes AI Refine, which gently turns a rambling note into one clear intention. When you use it, the text you choose to refine is sent to Apple's on-request AI service purely to generate that suggestion, and the result comes straight back to your device.

This happens only when you tap to refine — never in the background. Your notes aren't used to train any model, and we don't keep a copy. If you never use AI Refine, none of your writing ever leaves your device.

❧Purchases (Tend Plus)

Tend is free, and Tend Plus is a one-time purchase — pay once, with no subscriptions, ever. The transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.

All payment processing happens through Apple, so we never see your payment information — no card number, no billing details. We only receive, through Apple, the confirmation needed to unlock your Tend Plus features on your device.

❧Notifications

If you allow notifications, Tend uses them to send a gentle daily nudge to set or tend your one thing. These are scheduled locally on your device — they're never sent through a remote server, and their contents never leave your device. You can turn them off any time in your device settings.

❧Children's privacy

Tend is gentle and safe for everyone, including young users, and is suitable for ages 4 and up. Because Tend collects no personal data, requires no account, and contains no ads, tracking, or external content, there's nothing collected from children — or anyone else.

❧Changes to this policy

If we ever update this policy, we'll post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top of the page. Since Tend's whole approach is to keep your data on your device and away from us, any future change will stay true to that spirit. Continuing to use Tend after an update means you accept the revised policy.
