Frequently asked questions

Can a redaction be reversed?

No. Redactly destroys the pixels under a redaction and exports a flattened image with all metadata removed. Blackout and white-out write a solid fill; pixelate and blur destroy the underlying detail and inject random noise, so the result is not recoverable.

Is my original photo changed?

Never. Redactly works on a copy and saves a new, separate redacted file. Your original stays exactly as it was.

Does anything leave my device?

No. All processing is on-device. Redactly has no accounts and makes no network connections except to the App Store for purchases.

How does the free trial work?

You get a 3-day free trial of Redactly Pro through the App Store. Cancel anytime before it ends in your Apple subscription settings and you won’t be charged. After the trial it renews at the listed yearly price. A one-time Lifetime option is also available.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Redactly. You can also restore a previous purchase from the app’s Settings screen.

How do I restore my purchase?

In Redactly, open Settings (gear icon) → Restore Purchases.

The auto-detect didn’t find everything.

Auto-detect is a helper — always review the result. You can also draw redactions by hand, and the app re-scans your export and warns if flagged text is still readable.
